From Serena and Novak to Fery, Noskova, Sinner and the heat, this year's Wimbledon thrilled in many ways, but some things need to change.
Enjoyed reading your thoughts and insight on a thoroughly entertaining Wimbledon.
Thank you: enjoyed the linked Linda Noskova interview as well.
Some words dropped out from: "and if she it’s highly possible she’ll drop out of the top 10"
Ah thank you - sorry about that, I have fixed that now. Thanks for reading!
Thank you Duncan. Much appreciated
Great article Simon, and great reporting during the Championships. Some exciting news to come from my end shortly!
Thanks Elliott! And sounds good!
"She is also very likely to qualify for the season‑ending WTA Finals, for the top eight players in the calendar year, which will be held in Indian Wells." Having won Wimbledon, would Linda Noskova be automatically included in final eight anyway?
Well, not quite. Here's the qualification criteria:
- The top seven players on the Race Leaderboard
- The highest-ranked current-year Grand Slam winner who is ranked 8–20 and not
already qualified
- If no such Grand Slam winner exists, the next highest-ranked player who is
ranked 8 or lower
So we can't say for sure that she'll make it yet, but it's very possible, for sure.
Thanks for the information: hope both Wimbledon finalists make it to the final 8, but it's a competitive field.
